The iconic Gavin and Stacey cast sacrificed a lot of money by taking part in the BBC comedy, which first aired back in 2007 and stars James Corden and Ruth Jones
Gavin and Stacey: Nessa proposes to SmithyGavin & Stacey stars missed out on big paydays to do the show.
When the show first started it was being made for BBC Three, so budgets were tight - that meant the cast didn’t get as much cash as they could for other projects.
Creator James Corden said: “We felt if we wrote parts that were good enough, we might be able to entice them to do it because they’re certainly not going to be doing it for the money.”

When the cast was being put together, Alison Steadman was the top target. James was convinced that getting her on board would help get the show made.
He said: “When we wrote it we really set out to write Pam for Alison. If we could get Alison to do the show, then other actors would think it’s legit.
“Then it was about trying to get Rob Brydon to do Bryn.”
Gavin & Stacey, which James created alongside Ruth Jones, was originally going to be titled It’s My Day. The plan was to set it all at a wedding and episodes an hour long.
James said: “One weekend, I went to a wedding with my girlfriend at the time whose family were all from Barry Island. I was just watching this wedding take place and I thought, ‘All life is here’."
“I said to Ruth, ‘I really think that could be a show’. Then we just started talking about all these different characters.” New documentary Gavin & Stacey: A Fond Farewell is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
