Eva Longoria received one of the biggest compliments she could get in Hollywood as the reputable George Clooney praised her for her work ethic and willingness to survive in a brutal industry.
The pair have been friends for a considerable amount of time and have particularly connected over their political activism and charitable efforts, including backing Kamala Harris during the 2024 United States Presidential Election.
He has also operated as her mentor previously, helping to advise her through stages of her career, meaning the Academy Award-winning actor is well aware of how she operates behind closed doors as he celebrated her.
"She kicked a*s," Clooney said to Marie Claire magazine of her Flamin' Hot production. "Talent doesn't sustain you in this business.
"It requires hard work, determination, and brass balls. We know countless stars who flamed out. The reason she's still so relevant is because she won't take no for an answer."
Sexist Hollywood motivates Longoria's determination
The Desperate Housewives actress, who turns 50 in March 2025, is aware of the competitive world she's in as she explained how Hollywood's institutional bias against women ensures she remains focused.
But she also revealed how the sexism is a two-sided coin that means it's rare for her to underdeliver expectations as long as she continues to nail the basics such as hard work and applying herself.
"I show up on time. I show up prepared," Longoria said. "Our industry is famous for specifically men failing up. It's like, 'He got that movie? Didn't he just... The last movie, he just...? Didn't that bomb?'
"And they give him another [chance]. That's great, but I couldn't do that. I don't get a second chance.
"I think for me, there's no better position than to be underestimated because then you can always over deliver. I'm comfortable outworking anybody in the room."
