Giants Sign Future Hall of Famer to 1-Year Contract: Report

The San Francisco Giants, having fallen short in their pursuit of free agent right-hander Corbin Burnes, didn't waste much time lining up another veteran to join their starting rotation.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Giants and Justin Verlander are in agreement on the terms of a one-year contract. Verlander, who turns 42 in February, went 5-6 with a 5.48 ERA in 17 starts last season with the Houston Astros.

Verlander's season was interrupted by a neck injury, which he later admitted to rushing back from prematurely. In his career, Verlander is 262-147 with three Cy Young Awards and an American League MVP Award.
