Gladiators' Bradley Walsh and wife's weekend ritual together - but he's always left 'moaning' about one thing

6 hours ago 3

Bradley Walsh has opened up about a weekend tradition he shares with his wife that sometimes results in him 'moaning'.

Speaking on Laura Hamilton's Mile Fly Club podcast, Bradley discussed his busy filming schedule on The Chase and how he likes to unwind afterwards.

The 64-year-old Gladiators star shared that he and his wife Donna enjoy watching Laura's show A Place in the Sun, but the indecisiveness of the guests often leaves him 'moaning'.

The presenter remarked: "We sit there, Donna and I, we watch you all the time. We make a cup of tea, get the biscuits out and the shortbread (my wife loves shortbread) and we sit there and say: 'I wonder where Laura is today.' So we find out where you are."

"And I'm always moaning about that show, honestly I think I've text you before when these people waste your time. You go around these countries and then they go: 'Oh, I'm not sure."

Bradley has been hosting The Chase for over 15 years since its debut on TV to critical acclaim. Walsh's filming commitments, though just 50 days annually, are demanding.

The production schedule sees him shooting three episodes each day, which can lead to overnight stays at ITV's Elstree Studios, reports the Mirror. Walsh added: "I virtually live here (at the ITV studios). I have a constant room here now where I work from. We make three a day, so we start at 10 and we were done by 4.30."

"We made sure I had a short turnaround so it's a bit full on but it's alright because tonight I'll have a drink and I'll watch a bit of TV and I haven't got to get up in the morning. Do you know what I mean, I can have a lie in."

This comes after it was revealed that Bradley's 'seriously bad' eye problem will eventually require surgery. The popular quiz show host has previously spoken about a condition that often leaves him with red and swollen eyes, and will ultimately need surgical intervention to rectify the issue.

In a 2021 interview, he said: "People don't realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out."

According to the NHS, blepharitis results in swollen, itchy eyelids and can also cause crusty dandruff-like flakes on your eyelashes, as stated by the National Eye Institute's website. Bradley, along with his son Barney, 27, made a splash as the hosts of the revamped game show last year.

Fans eager for more won't be disappointed, as Gladiators is set to return for its second series tonight (Saturday, January 18), with BBC One broadcasting the excitement at 5.50pm.
