Google Store now sells Certified Refurbished Pixel phones, from $249+

The Google Store’s Refurbished section has been empty for a few years now, but that’s changing today with a “Certified Refurbished Phone program” for the Pixel 6 and newer in the US.

A Certified Refurbished Pixel has its battery, cameras, housing, and screens “carefully inspected” for imperfections.

If any phones need work, our technicians only use authentic Google parts for the repairs.

However, Google is not giving each refurbished phone a new battery by default — only if there is an issue. In comparison, Samsung and Apple automatically include a new battery.

Google will also install the latest version of Android ahead of time and package it in a new 100% plastic-free box, like modern devices, that notably includes a charger. It also comes with a 1-year limited warranty and customer support, while shipping and returns are free. Google Store Financing (0% APR for up to 36 months) is also available.

Overall, Google says the “result is a Pixel phone that’s as close to new as possible.”

The Google Store is offering a deeper “up to 40% off of the original retail price.” Apple’s Certified Refurbished program only goes up to 15%. So far, the following devices (all 128GB models) that date back to 2021 will be offered:

  • Pixel 6: $339
  • Pixel 6 Pro: $539
  • Pixel 6a: $249
  • Pixel 7: $429
  • Pixel 7 Pro: $629

Google will be “constantly updating our selection of devices, so check back soon if you don’t see a generation you’re interested in now.”

This Certified Refurbished Phone program is part of Google’s “efforts to continue our sustainability goals, including reducing electronic waste.” The Google Store first launched its Refurbished section in 2019 for the Pixelbook and Google Wifi before expanding to other Nest products and the Pixel 3.
