Gregg Wallace left MasterChef star crying over 'rape joke' claims Ulrika Jonsson

1 day ago 3

A former MasterChef contestant has claimed that Gregg Wallace left their co-star in tears.

Former Gladiators presenter Ulrika Jonsson has claimed that while on set of Celebrity MasterChef back in 2017, Wallace made a "rape joke" that made a co-star "well up".

She spoke to Times Radio about the allegations and said she was "absolutely horrified" to learn that Gregg "had said this rape joke while judging another contestants thing". Jonsson claimed: "She was in welling up, tearing up. And there was a, you know, commotion for a while. And then the producers obviously went to speak to him, do everybody knows, and I think that's the guilty thing."

Ulrika claimed the BBC "just wrote it off" and added: "I don't think that is acceptable. It's just not." The presenter also addressed Gregg's recent video statement and said she was "flabbergasted..shocked and appalled" by what he said.

"I never understand this with people in a position of power, and he is in a position of power. He's a celebrity, and he's a presenter," she said before adding: "I don't think he's capable of changing, because I think that's the way he is."

“I am nothing short of seething. Somewhere in his misogynistic, thoughtless, ancient mind he felt it appropriate to tell the world this," said Ulrika. “Oh, Gregg. Your ignorance and arrogance knows no bounds. Firstly, you have no clue what ‘class’ of women it is that have made complaints about you."

It was recently announced that Gregg Wallace has stepped down as MasterChef co-host amid a complaints investigation. The news came after complaints from individuals regarding historical allegations of misconduct.

According to a statement from MasterChef's production company Banijay UK, the 60-year-old is "committed to fully cooperating throughout the process". Wallace has been accused by 13 people of making inappropriate sexual comments across a 17-year period.

It has also been alleged that Wallace mimicked a sex act with a former member of the production team and that he walked into the MasterChef studio "completely naked except for a sock" covering his genitals before doing a "silly dance".

A witness who claims to have seen the alleged incidents also told The Telegraph that Mr Wallace was “very touchy feely” and made “disgusting sex-related jokes”.
