Olivia Rodrigo and Grimes agree: don’t date a man who wants to go to space.
The “Genesis” singer, 36, seemingly took a swipe at ex Elon Musk after Rodrigo, 21, revealed her biggest dating red flag during an interview with Netflix.
In the clip, shared on X, the “Vampire” singer admitted she has a “very oddly specific question” that she asks guys on first dates.
“I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space. And if they say yes, I don’t date them,” Rodrigo, who is dating actor Louis Partridge, said.
“I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. I think it’s just weird.”
Rodrigo’s confession gained traction online, catching the attention of Grimes, who shares three children with Musk.
“It’s true,” she replied on Sunday. “Only women should be going to space.”
While Grimes didn’t specifically mention the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, social media quickly picked up on the apparent shade.

“She does have the most experience out of most 🤣,” one user replied, to which another added, “the elon shade 😭.”
“miss grimes what happened last time you dated a guy who wanted to go to space,” a third wrote.
Although Musk has never been to space, his fascination with it has been well-documented over the years, even signing a $178 million contract with NASA to help them reach Jupiter’s ice-crusted moon, Europa.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, dated the tech billionaire, 53, on and off for four years before their 2022 split. The exes share son X Æ A-Xii (aka X), 4, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl (aka Y), 2, and son Techno Mechanicus (aka Tau), 2.
The pair have been battling for custody of their children over the last year, both filing petitions to establish parental rights.
While not much is known about the custody battle since the documents have remained sealed, Grimes’ mother Sandy Garossino previously accused Musk of “withholding” their children.
In a series of tweets, Garossino claimed Musk refused to let his children see their dying great-grandmother despite previously agreeing to it.
“She was thrilled for the kids’ planned visit to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Today. But those hopes were crushed when the trip was canceled,” she wrote on X.
“I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire.”
The matriarch said it was “troubling” to see Musk at the 2024 Paris Olympics with their eldest son but not the other two children.
“Where are the other children, and with whom?” she asked. “They are scheduled to be with their mother. They were expected here in Canada.”
Garossino begged Musk to “honor [his] agreement” and “return the children” as “time is of the essence.”
Musk, who is a father of 12, never replied.
