Groom's Mom Tries to 'Sabotage' Wedding, Gets Kicked Out

A 34-year-old groom on Reddit says he had no choice but to kick his own mother out of his wedding after she tried to "sabotage" his big day because she doesn't like his bride.

"I just got married to my wife. To skip to the point, the wedding was amazing except halfway through the ceremony, my mom showed up and made a total scene," the man began.

"She started talking really loudly and interrupted the whole thing. After the ceremony was over, she didn’t stop and so I went up to confront her (she’s always been bitter about me being in any sort of a relationship) and told her that she needs to quiet down and stop making a scene," the man continued.

The groom's mom refused to listen, so she was ultimately kicked out of the event.

"She completely disregarded me and so I told her she had to leave. My mom has had a history of hating every woman I’ve been in a relationship with and so I knew it was sabotage," he concluded.

Reader opinions in the comments section were mixed.

"If she's always had a problem with women you date then you should have been ready to kick her out, sat her at the back and had a security person there to tell her to shut up or walk her out if she made a scene. Allowing her to continue making a scene through the ceremony was an a--hole move," one person wrote.

"Some mothers are just impossible. You were very kind to let her be at the ceremony," another commented.

"Let this be a lesson. Let me guess... This isn't your mother's first rodeo with behaving badly in public, is it? Well, my speculation is you and others in the family have experienced her boorish behavior, yet they continue to invite her. Not smart. Make this the last straw," someone else advised.

"It’s unfortunate that it had to come to that, your priority should be the happiness and sanctity of your wedding day. If your mom continues to react negatively, that’s something you can address later, but in that moment, you acted to preserve the integrity of your celebration," another chimed in.
