Fans of Gypsy Rose Blanchard should not expect to see photos of her newborn daughter, Aurora Urker, appear on her social media.
The Louisiana native, 33, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, January 5, to explain why she and boyfriend Ken Urker decided not to share photos of their baby girl online.
“To everyone asking, no, I will not be posting pictures of Aurora,” Gypsy wrote. “I understand everyone’s excitement and we appreciate the support, but we value the privacy and safety of our daughter. We continue to express love towards our supporters and thank you for following our journey.”
Gypsy and Ken, 31, welcomed their daughter into the world on December 28, 2024, confirming the news to TMZ on January 1. The My Time to Stand author gave birth to Aurora on the one-year anniversary of her early release from prison on parole.
“Aurora is healthy and we are so happy,” Ken told the publication.
The new also father took to his Instagram to share a hospital photo in which Gypsy held the baby girl in her arms while Ken leaned over and smiled down at Aurora. Their daughter’s face was not visible in the pic.
“Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all,” Ken captioned the post.
Days later, Gypsy took to her Instagram Stories to share her first selfie since giving birth. She took to her Instagram Stories with a photo of herself wearing a tight-fitting white tank top and black pants. She flashed a gentle smile at the camera and placed a hand on her hip.
“Almost a week postpartum,” Gypsy captioned the photo, adding a pink heart emoji. “Starting to feel more energized.”
Gypsy, who reunited with former fiancé Ken following her March 2024 split from Ryan Anderson, announced her pregnancy with baby No. 1 in July 2024.
“I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant. Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025,” the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star said in a YouTube video at the time. “We’re both very excited. This was not planned at all. It was completely unexpected.”
Though Gypsy shared updates on her journey throughout her pregnancy, she took a step back from social media as her due date drew nearer, explaining in November 2024 that she no longer wanted to post her personal life online.
“I will no longer be posting personal content on this public platform,” she wrote on TikTok. “Since I was released, I have shared with supporters my hardships and achievements through the lens of social media. However, I find myself at a crossroads that leads me to desire a more private life sharing with only family and close friends these special moments.”
Gypsy thanked fans for their support and promised to keep fans professional matters, but added that she would be creating private social media accounts for close friends and family only.
“This decision was made with consideration to the well-being of my own mental health as well as the overall wellbeing of my family and daughter,” she concluded. “We are all doing very well and are in good spirits, excited for our futures moving forward. Thank you.”
