Hailey Bieber has raised eyebrows after interacting with Selena Gomez's engagement announcement.
On Thursday, the Only Murders In The Building star delighted fans, followers and fellow celebrities when she shared a snap of her hand with a huge diamond ring on her wedding finger. Further photos in the multi-image Instagram post included a sweet snap of her and now fiancé Benny Blanco, 36, embracing.
The couple have been dating for over a year and are now set to spend their lives together. Sharing her happy news on social media, Selena added a simple and uplifting caption that stated: "Forever begins now.."
The post drew a heartwarming response from Benny himself, who wrote: “Hey wait… that’s my wife.” While Selena's long-time friend Taylor Swift wrote: “Yes I will be the flower girl.”
However, it was the response of 28-year-old Hailey that prompted a wide discussion from fans. Many noticed that the model quietly 'liked' Selena's post which is being regarded as a "classy" message of support. Long before she became engaged to Benny, I Can’t Get Enough singer Selena had an explosively high profile on-off romance with Hailey's now-husband Justin Bieber.
The singers dated from 2010 to 2018 and have written heartbreak songs about each other over the years. There had been suggestions that Selena and Hailey did not see eye to eye as Justin had an on-off romance with his now wife that peppered the years of 2014 until they went more serious in 2018 - and married that same year.
Taking to social media to comment on Hailey 'liking' Selena's post, one fan wrote: “We love women supporting women. This made my heart happy." Another typed: “War is over.” A further fan wrote: "classy move". And another commented: “So everybody can be happy now. Thank God.”
After tying-the-knot in 2018, Justin and Hailey welcomed a son named Jack Blues Bieber in August this year. In July, Hailey opened up to W Magazine about her pregnancy experience as she counted down to motherhood. Complaining about an irony behind the term "Morning sickness", she said: “I don’t know why they call it that because it lasts all day long; we need to change the name."
She also shared that she was received her pregnancy developed in a subtle way, meaning she was able to keep her happy news a secret for six months. She said: “I was honestly able to keep it quiet because I stayed small for a long time. I didn’t have a belly, really, until I was six months pregnant, which was when I announced it. I was able to wear big jackets and stuff.
“I probably could have hid it until the end. But I didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly. I felt like I was hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good. I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”
