Hannah Berner Clarifies Her Blake Lively Joke Was Filmed Before Legal Action Against Justin Baldoni

Hannah Berner is setting the record straight that a recently aired joke about Blake Lively was filmed before the It Ends With Us star filed a legal complaint against Justin Baldoni.

The comedian took part in Netflix‘s end-of-year comedy special Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, which was released on the streamer Friday. During her set, she pocked fun at several pop culture headlines throughout the year, including Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship and Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s breakup.

But it was a punchline that referenced Lively that didn’t land well, given her recent accusations against Baldoni. Berner said on stage during the special, “The word ‘cunt’ was trending this year. I don’t think Blake Lively was that bad.”

Berner later took to her Instagram Story to clarify that the special was filmed on Dec. 17, before the news broke. “My joke in the Netflix roast was filmed before news of the [complaint]. To be 100 percent clear, I support Blake xoxo,” the comedian wrote.

On Dec. 20, Lively filed a complaint, accusing her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment on set, and “disturbing” and “unprofessional” behavior while filming. She also alleged that Baldoni launched a retaliatory smear campaign against her.

Lively previously shared a statement with The New York Times, writing, “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”

Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman has denied Lively’s allegations, calling them “false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt” the actor.
