A rescue husky caught enjoying a "turkey coma" has melted hearts online.

The moment was shared to the dog's TikTok account, @milothehuskyrescue, with a clip showing Milo in a post-dinner slumber on the couch. And it seemed like nothing could wake the dog up from his well-earned nap.

A caption layered over the video explains that he "once moved around from shelter to shelter" before finding his forever home in New York four years ago. Now, life looks very different for the rescue pup, seen in "a turkey coma in his favorite spot at Grandma's."

The sweet video has delighted social media users, with more than 227,000 views and over 46,900 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

Newsweek has contacted @milothehuskyrescue via TikTok for comment.

As Milo slept on the sofa, he was joined by one of his stuffed animals, which was carefully tucked underneath his paws.

Whether it's Christmas, Thanksgiving or just an everyday family meal, many owners can't resist slipping their dog a few mouthfuls of food under the table. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), turkey isn't usually toxic to dogs and it's rich in protein, riboflavin and phosphorus. When cooked plain, without added fat, salt or seasonings, it can be a good part of a dog's diet.

But the AKC notes that, more often than not, people cook turkey marinaded in butters or oils and seasoned with combinations that can be harmful to dogs.

When it comes to safely feeding it to a dog, the AKC suggests removing the skin and to only feed them the meat rather than any of the extra vegetables it's cooked with, and certainly don't give them cooked turkey bones.

The AKC also says that portions should be kept small and given as a treat to avoid any potential stomach upsets.
