Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian has completed her gruelling chemotherapy treatment.
The former The Bill star has been open in recent months about her stage two breast cancer diagnosis. The actress known for playing the role of Becca Dean on the Channel 4 soap took to social media to share her journey, including a touching video alongside her husband, David O'Mahony.
Ali shared her heartfelt moment: "I got to ring (the tiny little bell I stole from my kid's music box as they don't do the [bell] thing here in Ireland) after five months of chemotherapy. I'm still halfway through this last cycle, so much still to process on every level."
Expanding on her experiences, Ali praised the nursing staff, saying: "Chemo is major. The oncology nursing team at the Dunmanway CUH are INCREDIBLE, I said to them as I left... it's not that I never want to see them again because I love them all so much, I just hope the next time I do we all have a glass of Prosecco in our hands raising money and awareness for all their incredible work."
With words of encouragement for those in a similar battle, Ali added, "For anyone going through this, you think the end will never come and then through the fog... the goal posts appear. You are not alone. Thank you all so, so much. I read every kind word of support and it honestly gets me through xxxxxxx" alongside four heart emojis.
Her post was met with a wave of support from fellow actors and friends with Jamie Lomas, renowned for playing Warren Fox, commending her by typing: "You are AMAZING [love heart emoji]", while Gemma Merna, better known as Carmel McQueen, echoed: "You are amazing Ali", reports OK!.
This Morning's Ashley James sent her thoughts with a simple "Thinking of you Ali", while Anna Williamson chimed in: "You're absolutely amazing so much love". Helen Skelton was also among the stars sending their best, writing "Sending love xxxxxxx", and Giovanna Fletcher echoed the sentiment: "Sending you huge amounts of love! ! Xxx."
Hollyoaks star Danny Mac, known for his role as Dodger Savage, responded with love hearts, and TV favourite Dermot O'Leary expressed his support too. Ali first shared her breast cancer diagnosis with OK! back in June, describing it as a "total shock". She admitted to still having moments upon waking when she'd "forgotten" about her illness, only for the reality to hit her again.
The actor, familiar from her roles in Doctors and her stint on the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing, found the lump while breastfeeding her 19-month-old daughter Isabella. Recounting the discovery, she said, "I hadn't been breastfeeding Izzy at night but then David flew back to London for work and suddenly she was feeding like crazy. I was thinking, 'Maybe she's having a growth spurt or something.' And because of that, my boobs felt sore. The next morning I woke up and thought, 'Ouch, this really hurts.' And that's when I felt a lump."
