Martin Roberts shares update after devastating flood damage

Martin Roberts, the host of Homes Under the Hammer, has opened up about his health scare two years ago when he had an "emergency operation" after fluid was found around his heart.

The 61-year-old TV presenter revealed to MailOnline that he still experiences "twinges" in his chest which cause him to panic.

He also shared that he doesn't know "how much time" he has left but is determined to do "as much as he can" for his latest project, renovating a pub in Wales.

Recalling his conversation with the consultant who performed the procedure, Martin said: "The physical side of things took a lot longer than we thought to get around. I still get twinges and every single time I get a twinge in my chest, I panic."

He added that anyone who's had issues with their heart would "attest," and explained that it "sends you into a flurry of worry" and then recalled asking the consultant who did the procedure how long he would have survived without it.

Martin said that he was told he "probably had maybe two or three hours to live", reports the Mirror.

The former I'm A Celebrity star opened up about the harrowing thought of not being able to see his two children or achieve "all" of his life's ambitions had he passed away during the ordeal.

He reflected on missing out on "all the things," he yearns to accomplish and highlighted the "psychological side" of his experience, admitting it takes "a lot longer to get over" compared to the "physical side."

Martin continued: "I was told I need to slow down and take things easy and all that kind of stuff, and I've gone a completely other way."

The TV star has taken the opposite approach and is currently pouring his efforts into a community project in Blaencwm, where he's breathing new life into a local pub.

Martin is working alongside "local kids," described as "disengaged and disadvantaged," providing them with a chance to learn valuable construction skills.

He spoke passionately about "doing lots of good," acknowledging that he doesn't know "how much time" he has left, which fuels his desire to do "as much" good as he can.

For Martin, he shared his motivation and revealed it's all about "making a difference" and leaving a legacy that people will remember.
