A Price Is Right contestant had an eventful time on the game show after his Punch-A-Bunch injury left both the audience and host Drew Carey stunned.
A contestant named Albert was playing in the first-ever all-cash game of Punch-A-Bunch when he accidentally hurt his hand while trying to punch through one of the holes in the game board.
In a video of the moment, which was shared to the show's Instagram on November 11, Albert is seen attempting an uppercut for his third punch after delivering the first two flawlessly, but instead of landing on the intended slot, his fist collided with the game board.
The painful moment was quickly followed by a burst of laughter from Albert, who shook out his hand in recovery and said "Ah!" Carey – also seemingly amused by the situation – quipped, "Good uppercut!" and laughed as the game continued. Despite the injury, Albert powered through and went on to make a wise decision in the game, ultimately winning $5,000.
Fans were quick to comment on the incident, praising Albert for continuing the game despite the mishap.
"I would've taken that hand stub as a sign 🤣," said one user. Another congratulated the player, saying, "5K ain't bad at all congratulations Albert."
"Best episode is when person in wheelchair won a treadmill. Stuff happens," said another user, referring to an awkward moment in a 2015 episode of the CBS game show where contestant Danielle Perez, a wheelchair user, won a treadmill. Producers addressed the incident in a statement according to The Wrap, noting that "Prizes are determined in advance of the show and are not decided based on the contestants."
Punch-A-Bunch is a game on The Price Is Right where contestants earn punches on a 50-hole punch board by correctly guessing the prices of four small prizes. Each hole contains a different cash amount, and the contestant can either keep the money behind the hole or continue punching through the remaining slots for the chance of a higher prize.
With three punches available, Albert's first punch netted him $250, while his second revealed the coveted $5,000 prize. He wisely decided to take the $5,000, leaving the last punch worth $1,000.
The Price Is Right airs on CBS on weekdays at 11 am E.T.
