How Dog Deals With Onset of Winter Has Internet in Stitches: 'Relatable'

A pup from Scandinavia was caught on camera hiding from the Arctic cold as the winter season in the region begins, and internet users can't stop laughing at the hilarious clip.

In a post shared on TikTok in September by @fredrikdahleklocke, the poster is looking for his brown Labrador retriever in their cabin in the snow, only to find him taking a nap under a massive blanket, hiding away from the snow. "No words needed," reads layover text in the clip, and a caption says: "Winter came too early."

Newsweek reached out to @fredrikdahleklocke for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

Not all dogs like cold weather or are made to withstand frosty temperatures, and Labrador retrievers are among those who don't particularly enjoy the winter.

Georgia-based veterinarian Jess Kirk says on Vet Explains Pets that, while they do have a thick, water-resistant coat that helps them tolerate the cold better than some other pups, their ideal temperature is between 45 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, in Scandinavia, temperatures can get much lower than that during the winter. According to Visit Norway, the climate varies from region to region, with the coasts usually recording around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and inland regions reaching lows of minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Some places can even get as cold as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you have a Labrador retriever and you live in a cold area, you should consider dog sweaters to keep your pup warm during play time. When your dog is cold, they will show signs, such as shivering, seeking shelter, and reluctance to go outside.

Moreover, your Labrador retriever can get frostbite if exposed to extreme cold for too long, so you should limit their time outside during the colder days, and provide them with a safe, warm environment where they can feel comfortable and safe.

To keep your pup warm indoors, ensure they have a bed, some fluffy blankets, and that they have access to warm areas in your home.
