Boston College is riding high after closing its season with two straight wins, including a 34-23 victory over Pitt to cap things off. Their season also featured an upset over then-No. 10 Florida State 28-13 as a massive 16.5-point underdog back in September.

BC's success is built on a ground-and-pound philosophy, averaging 176.3 rushing yards per game—good for 46th nationally. Controlling the tempo has been their bread and butter, allowing them to dictate games and keep opposing offenses off the field.

This marks Boston College's second consecutive bowl appearance after last year's 23-14 win over SMU in the Fenway Bowl, where they played the role of underdogs yet again. That victory snapped a two-game bowl losing streak and gave the Eagles their first postseason win since 2016.

Meanwhile, for the Cornhuskers, this bowl appearance is a long-awaited return to the postseason, marking their first since 2016. Nebraska's last bowl win was a 37-29 victory over UCLA in the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl. Since then, it's been a bumpy road back to relevance, but a stout defense has been the bright spot in an otherwise inconsistent season.

Nebraska's defense allowed just 19.8 points per game (17th nationally) and stifled opponents on the ground, giving up only 105.8 rushing yards per game (11th nationally). That defensive toughness will be put to the test against Boston College's run-heavy offense.

After starting the season 5-1, Nebraska hit a rough patch, losing five of their final six games, including a heartbreaking 13-10 loss to Iowa to close out the regular season.

While their offense has struggled to find consistency, the Cornhuskers' defense gives them a chance to stay competitive in any game.
