PLANS for The 1975 to play last year’s Glastonbury fell at the final hurdle.
But insiders have said the band, fronted by Matty Healy, are back in the running to headline the Pyramid Stage next summer.
A source said: “Matty and his bandmates are more than ready to play the Pyramid Stage and they are available.
“Festival organiser Emily Eavis has long wanted The 1975 on board, but they couldn’t make it work last year.
“They are being lined up for the Friday slot at the moment, and all the signs are really positive.”
Matty, alongside his bandmates Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel, have never headlined Glasto before.
But they are no strangers to the event and have played there three times before, including a set on the Other Stage in 2016.
Matty is also regularly there as a fan, and I saw him last year living it up in the VIP area, where he was stopped every five seconds for selfies with well-heeled fans.
After next year’s festival, Glasto will take a break in 2026 to allow the farm time to recover and to give Emily the chance to plan a huge comeback event in 2027.
In 2013, when The 1975 were starting out, Matty revealed that getting up on the Pyramid Stage was the band’s ultimate goal.
He said: “Headlining Glastonbury?
“Now we’ve started, you might as well reach for the sky and the mountain tops.

“I just want people to feel about our records the same way records made me feel.
“I want our record to be like an antiquated soundtrack to someone’s memories.
“Something that makes someone feel genuinely emotional.
“If we’re in a position as a band that we can connect with people at that level, then that’s all we care about.
“And that I can buy fags and a sandwich!”
I hope that priority never changes, Matty.
And definitely bring your mum, Denise Welch.
She knows how to party.
JADE: I’M ON WRITE PATH
JADE THIRLWALL has told how the best thing about Little Mix's hiatus has been proving to the world that she can pen hit tracks by herself.
And given her latest single Fantasy is an absolute tune, she’s nailing it.
Speaking alongside the band’s long-time collaborator Kamille at TikTok’s For Songwriters event, Jade said: “The group was my identity for such a long time.
“It took me a while to find myself, coming out of the band. I was going to LA and s****ing myself being in the room with huge producers and writers. And I’d think, ‘What would Kamille do?’ ”
Kamille, who was behind top Little Mix tracks including Black Magic and Break Up Song, also wrote Tension with Kylie Minogue.
The Londoner said: “The studio is a place to let out a stream of consciousness and I’ve realised I can write songs on my own.
“When I found Calvin Harris wrote We Found Love on his own, I knew I could write on my own, and be the producer, and it didn’t have to be a session with loads of people.”
WILL CHAPPELLE BE NEXT ADELE?
RADIO 1 has revealed the longlist for the BBC’s Sound Of 2025, with Chappell Roan, among those tipped for greatness in the next 12 months.
Other acts to be chosen include American rapper Doechii, Aussie group Confidence Man and former Mercury Prize winners English Teacher and Ezra Collective.
Myles Smith, who had a massive hit this summer with Stargazing, is also on the list, ahead of the award top five being revealed in January.
Barry Can't Swim, Good Neighbours, Kneecap, Mk.Gee and Pozer complete the longlist.
Huge stars including Adele, Dua Lipa and Lewis Capaldi have all been on the BBC Sound Of . . . list in the past, before they became famous, so this lot are definitely ones to watch out for.

Jess Glynne's girlfriend Alex Scott and Lennon Gallagher were spotted coming out of the after-party at Kensington Roof Gardens in the early hours of yesterday alongside footballers Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo, rapper Central Cee and athlete Usain Bolt.
As well as getting boozy on Bey’s whisky, guests were treated to performances by A.G. Cook and Taylah Elaine and a DJ set from Central Cee.
My insider said: “There will be some bad hangovers after the Moty’s – the booze started running low in the early hours because the guests were hammering the bar.
“It started off as a refined affair with a candlelit dinner but once the DJ sets started it was one massive party.
The dancefloor was packed all night and once the party ended, most guests headed over to Chiltern Firehouse to carry on the fun.

LADY GAGA has gone back to the dark-pop sound of her hit album The Fame Monster for her upcoming seventh album, due out in February.
Talking to Vogue about the as-yet-untitled record, she said: “The album is chaotic . . . it is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.
"This album is a celebration of a lot of the music that made me who I am, because when I returned to a darker pop style of pop, all my early experiences with music came out.”
