Hysterics As Dog Finally Realizes Owner Has Been in Room 'The Whole Time'

2 days ago 5

A woman has gone viral for capturing the moment her oblivious dog finally realized she was in the room with her the entire time.

Moon the 13-year-old husky became an overnight social media star after her owner, housewife and artist Laura, recorded the pup not realizing they had been hanging out in the same room together.

"I'll play hide and seek regularly and she's the perfect dog to play that game with," Laura told Newsweek. "She's always been a little dense so this behavior is not out of the norm."

In a hilarious clip posted to Laura's TikTok account, @moon_theorigional, on December 16, Moon relaxes on her dog bed, grooming herself, as Laura writes across the clip: "Watch my dog not realize I've been in the room the whole time and freak out when she finally sees me."

She told Newsweek the husky has had regular vet checkups that showed no issue with her sight or hearing, and Moon simply didn't notice her when she walked into the room, as she was standing on a ladder painting.

In the clip, Laura calls Moon's name and whistles to her, but despite being just steps away, Moon can't locate her at all. She jumps up and walks around the room, looking for the source of the noise, and when Laura calls her name again, Moon leaves the room entirely.

Laura tries calling her again, and Moon returns—only to jump back as though Laura was about to sneak up on her—and Laura explained to Newsweek that "I also have a habit of patting her hind or touching her tail when I'd walk up behind her to pass, which is why she whipped around in the video thinking I was sneaking up on her."

At one point, Moon looks directly at her owner, but doesn't register what she's looking at—as Laura jokes she's "all beauty and no brain," and told Newsweek Moon has always had an "I'm beautiful and I know it attitude."

Finally, the husky looks up and notices Laura standing on the ladder—and instantly jumps as if in fright, before bouncing around in excitement.

TikTok users loved the video, which has over 1.1 million likes and a whopping 8.5 million views, as one user wrote: "I think she needs glasses."

"Not a guard dog," another laughed, as one insisted "surely she HAS to be at least a LITTLE hard of hearing."

But as one person suggested: "She's hard of thinking."

And one person brilliantly put it: "Wisdom is chasing her but she is faster."

Huskies are known for their endurance and dignity, and make popular family pets thanks to their affection towards humans and other dogs, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). However, the AKC notes that the breed's friendliness makes them a less-than-ideal choice for a watchdog.

Laura told Newsweek that the cherry on top of the situation is that she had painted multiple murals around the house, so Moon would have been used to seeing her on the ladder, and still never thought to look for her there.

Moon has "always had a big personality," Laura said.

"She spent most of her life as a very stubborn and stuck-up pup," she said, before mellowing out in her old age.

"She acts more like a cat than a dog. She doesn't howl, hates water, and only wants attention on her terms!"
