Lily Allen has announced she's taking a break from her podcast, admitting she's "not in a good place" mentally.

The British singer, 39, shared on her BBC show Miss Me? that she's been "spiralling" and recently had a panic attack while out.

Allen made the announcement amid persistent rumours of a split from her Stranger Things star husband, David Harbour, 49, who she lives in New York with.

In the podcast episode, the Not Fair singer referred to Harbour as her "husband" still, keeping mum on the speculation over their relationship.

When the topic of the Golden Globes came up, Allen said she didn't tune in to Hollywood's night of nights.

"I'm finding it hard to be interested in anything. I'm really not in a good place," Allen admitted.

"I know I've been talking about it for months, but I've been spiralling and spiralling and spiralling, and it's got out of control."

She said she recently went to a Christmas outing and had a panic attack. She also went to the theatre with some friends but left early.

Speaking about stepping away from the podcast for a while, she said: "I'm going away next week, you're not going to hear me for a few weeks, listeners."

"There will be speculation, because of the amount of time that I'm going to be taking away, that I'm going to drug rehab, and I'm not. I've not relapsed."

She said there's been "vicious rumours" about alleged drug use, ''but that's not true".
