Emmerdale fans believe they've pieced together the exit strategy for character Ella Forster, following news of actress Paula Lane's departure from the soap.
Ella made her first appearance on the show earlier this year, carrying with her a significant secret. In 'true' soap opera style, her shocking revelation was eventually brought to light.
At the tender age of 11, Ella committed a heinous act - she murdered her best friend and was subsequently incarcerated. Upon release, Ella, formerly known as Ruth, has been constantly on the move across the country.
She arrived in the Dales in January, hoping to finally find some stability, particularly after sparking a romance with GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson). However, upon discovering her past as a child murderer, Liam ended their relationship, unable to cope given his own daughter Leanna's (Mimi Slinger) murder, reports Leeds Live.
This led to Ella leaving the village in June, only to make a dramatic return a few months later, where she has since become close friends with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).
But after reigniting her relationship with Liam, Ella was left devastated last week when she discovered his infidelity with Chas (Lucy Pargeter).
Adding to the drama, it was reported this week that actress Paula is set to leave the soap. According to Birmingham Live, it is believed that Paula's final scenes will be broadcast in the spring of 2025.
Paula, 38, has dropped a major hint about her departure from Emmerdale by updating her Instagram bio with a talent Spotlight page that reveals she'll wrap up filming in February 2025. Now, the show's fans reckon they've sussed out how her character Ella might bow out, and it's all pointing towards a dramatic revenge plot.
Eagle-eyed viewers on an Emmerdale Facebook fan group have been speculating like mad, with one fan posting: "I know this will be hugely controversial but I'd love it if she killed smug Chas (who steals men permanently and can't keep getting away with it) and got away with it and lived happily ever after with Liam and they have a little girl."
Another fan chimed in with their own theory: "Ella is definitely going to try to get rid of Chas and/or Liam." This sentiment was echoed by another who added: "Yes I think she will try and kill Chas and get sent back to prison."
