Dean McCullough was the second star to bid farewell to the I'm A Celebrity jungle, but eagle-eyed fans have noticed a 'brutal' moment during his post-exit interview on the reality series' companion show. Ant and Dec had a brief chat with the Radio 1 host right after announcing the results of the latest public vote.
However, Dean also made an appearance on ITV2's I'm A Celebrity Unpacked, where he was interviewed by Sam Thompson. Telly personality Sam, who won last year's edition of the reality series, now co-hosts Unpacked alongside Kemi Rodgers and fellow ex-campmate Joel Dommett.
As Dean's departure from the jungle was announced, his initial four-word reaction left some viewers surprised, as he yelled: "I need my underwear!" He then expressed his joy at going home to Ant and Dec. Yet, fans believe they spotted a moment where the DJ seemed less than thrilled.
Dean faced the most Bushtucker trials of any campmate during his time in the jungle, reports the Express. He was chosen by the public to undertake seven challenges, but he said the phrase I'm a celebrity get me out of here twice.
During a chat with Sam over a freshly brewed cup of tea, the presenter mentioned he was giving a mug to every contestant as they left. Each mug would feature a memorable quote from their time on the show.
However, Dean's mug was just the standard issue one, bearing the name of the show - I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Sam mentioned that it's because that phrase is what Dean will be remembered for.
Sam commented: "You (Dean) were a massive part of the show. We decided to give everyone personalised mugs with their standout quotes of the series and for you we had to go with I'm a celebrity get me out of here. It's actually just the generic one because that is what you said."
Dean simply responded 'well played', but viewers swiftly took to social media over the gag, with one writing: "Unpacked giving Dean his 'quote of the series' mug and it's just the logo is so brutal."
Some audience members thoroughly enjoyed the banter during the interview, pointing out Sam's clever nods to previous claims that Dean hadn't pulled his weight in camp tasks. There was also a mention of their run-ins with fish offal.
One viewer took to social media, remarking: "'Not the water, clearly' - Sam Thompson not only dropped the mic here, he broke it into smithereens and threw them all over Dean." Another expressed admiration: "Love Sam's interview with Dean. Dean is on another planet and not 'reading the room and questions'."
The vote has once again opened up for the public to pick their favourites to stay in camp. The least popular celeb as per Monday's votes (December 2), will depart from the show.
Currently, McFly's Danny Jones is the front-runner according to the bookmakers' odds. Not far behind him are Reverend Richard Coles and Coleen Rooney, both anticipated to reach the final stages.
