Dr Hilary Jones, a regular on Lorraine's show, couldn't hide his joy on Thursday's episode as he announced the birth of his grandchild live on air. During his health segment, stand-in host Christine Lampard offered her congratulations on the new addition to his family.

The elated grandad took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the NHS, recounting the positive experience at Kingston Maternity Hospital.

Christine, 45, greeted him with: "Hilary, firstly, congratulations, grandad again! " Dr Hilary responded by sharing a photo and praising the exceptional care his daughter received during her caesarean section.

He said: "I know! I just wanted to say here's a picture of my daughter's baby being born by caesarean section. People talk about the NHS being broken, but this was a moment of fantastic, five-star, wonderful experience at Kingston Maternity Hospital."

Where the NHS works well, it is fabulous, thank you Kingston! " Christine warmly replied: "Congratulations!"

Back in September, Lorraine revealed she had become a grandmother while speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain. She expressed her joy at seeing her daughter Rosie and her partner Steve embrace parenthood.

She said: "It's just, it's brilliant! Everybody said to me you won't believe how much you'll love this little tiny thing, and of course you do, but it's amazing to see your own child having a wee baby. It's just lovely, it's wonderful. I can't stop smiling!"
