Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have many things in common from their similar values to shared hobbies of hiking and boxing - but there is one activity that the couple don't seem to have a joint love for.
In his memoir Spare, the 40-year-old duke revealed that he and his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas shared a "sacred" and "symbolic" love for skiing together which his now wife Meghan does not seem to understand.
Harry, who dated Cressida for two years, wrote that during a couple's trip to Switzerland she had asked him about his late mother Diana which caused him to cry for the first time since the former Princess of Wales' burial, Hello! reports.
The duke wrote: "Skiing was so sacred for us, so symbolic, especially after our previous skiing holiday, in Switzerland, when she'd miraculously opened me up.
"It happened late one night, after a long day on the slopes, and a fun time at après-ski. We'd gone back to my cousin's chalet, where we were staying, and Cress was washing her face, brushing her teeth, while I was sitting on the edge of the bath. We were talking about nothing special, as I recall, but suddenly she asked about my mother."
He added: "I answered her, straight-out, and then started to cry" before going on to reveal that it was actually during another ski holiday that he realised his relationship with Cressida was over.
Harry recalled: "At some point during that ski trip I'd realised that we weren’t a match. How odd, I thought. Every time we go skiing… a revelation."
The duke has been skiing since he was a young boy but despite his deep love for snow sports, Harry has never been known to go skiing with Meghan during their trips to various snowy locations.
Over New Year's Eve in 2017, the Sussexes' took a private trip to Norway with royal experts and co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand revealing details of their getaway in their book Finding Freedom.
The book reads: "Harry planned a New Year's trip where they could really get away from it all. There, Harry and Meghan enjoyed seven days of dog sledding, whale watching, dining on local delicacies, and snuggling to watch as the aurora borealis lit up the skies."
However, skiing was apparently not on the couple's itinerary. It's not known whether or not the former Suits actress can ski but as someone who is rather sporty and lived in both California and Canada, it would be surprising if she was unable to navigate the slopes.
It's been speculated whether the former royal couple have actually been on secret ski trips together or if it's something they are not interested in experiencing as a couple after the duke's deep love for the activity with his ex-girlfriend.
