Special Counsel Jack Smith has been investigating allegations that Trump criminally tried to overturn the 2020 election results when he lost the White House to Joe Biden.

The President-elect faced accusations of inciting the January 6 Capitol riots, where his supporters stormed the building following his repeated, unproven claims that the election was "stolen" through voter fraud.
