Mug cakes, however, are just as tasty and can be cooked within a matter of minutes.
Jamie Oliver’s microwave mug cake is packed with chocolate and banana, and the recipe makes four, perfect for the whole family.
The recipe notes said: “I’m bigging up the microwave here to create the easiest, most reliable cake in minutes.
“It’s perfect for those days when you need a warm hug in a mug. Feel free to mix up the flavours.”

Method:
Peel the banana and place it in the bowl of a food processor and blitz, or mash by hand in a large bowl.
Add the flour along with a pinch of salt, the sugar, and four tablespoons of olive oil.
Crack in the egg and pulse or whisk until the batter is smooth in consistency.
Divide the mixture between four small ramekins or microwave-proof cups, and each cup should have around 200ml.

Break the chocolate bar into chunks and push it into the mixture before microwaving in pairs on high (800W) for one minute 30 seconds.
You’ll know when it is ready as it will be well-risen and gooey in the middle.
Remove the cups from the microwave carefully and leave them to cool slightly.
Jamie recommended dolloping yoghurt on the top, custard or a small scoop of ice cream before tucking in.
