JAY-Z’s social justice initiative, Team ROC, is diving into the true crime genre with Corruption Uncovered, a new podcast series that will spotlight systemic failures and injustices in the U.S. justice system.
Hosted by journalist Josie Duffy Rice, the first season focuses on alleged misconduct within the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, with a particular emphasis on the federal case against former detective Roger Golubski.
“There is a need for powerful and comprehensive storytelling in the criminal justice sector so that the voices of those who have been silenced are heard,” Team ROC Managing Director Dania Diaz said in a statement.
“Our hope is for Corruption Uncovered to not only achieve that purpose but also to serve as an investigative platform that will expose misconduct, demand accountability, and drive change from the people and systems that are duty-bound to protect its citizens and community.”
Team ROC shared a gripping trailer for the podcast on Monday, posing a powerful question: “What does justice look like after decades of corruption in law enforcement?” The series promises to investigate decades-long claims of abuse and misconduct by Golubski and others, shedding light on the deep mistrust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
The podcast continues Team ROC’s ongoing advocacy in Kansas City, where the organization has previously called for accountability within the police department. In 2022, Team ROC filed a lawsuit to obtain records related to Golubski’s alleged misconduct, amplifying calls for transparency and reform.
Corruption Uncovered will debut on December 6 across digital streaming platforms, offering listeners a compelling and unflinching look into the cracks within the justice system.
