A source close to Jennifer Lopez announces she's cancelling all of her media appearances as the 55-year-old plans to support her local Los Angeles community in the wake of devastating wildfires in the region, which have killed at least 11 people.

California's largest metropolis was struck by flames on Tuesday, January 7 and combined with winds reaching 100mph, have quicky gone beyond the control of the Los Angeles Fire Department despite massive efforts.

Locations such as Pacific Palisades and Sunset Boulevard have effectively been destroyed and even the famous Hollywood sign is not safe from the inferno, as fire fighters warn they may not be able to contain the blazes.

Over 130,000 people have been displaced across almost 30,000 acres of land, with thousands of buildings levelled. Some famous names to lose their homes are James Woods, Paris Hilton and the Academy Award-winning Anthony Hopkins but they are only some to experience the chaos.

As a result, Lopez has decided to cancel her publicity commitments for her upcoming Unstoppable movie as she plans to focus on helping the citizens of LA find their feet again, in a touching demonstration of human compassion.

It's important to her to focus on supporting the community of Los Angeles during this very difficult time,' a source close to Lopez told PEOPLE, ahead of the launch of the movie which releases on Amazon Prime on Friday, January 17.

The premiere at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater has already been abandoned, and Lopez will not be heading to New York City to promote the sports drama movie on shows such as Today, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Lopez reaches out to Affleck

As she plans to help Los Angeles find its feet, the 55-year-old is also making sure she checks in on her loved ones, including on her estranged husband and his children.

Lopez announced her divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024 after he moved to the Pacific Palisades region, which has been hit by the fires. She's also looking out for his children Violet (19), Fin (16), and Samuel (12).

The pair are still in the divorce process, but have not lived together since April 2024 after the Batman actor moved to Brentwood, before later relocating to Pacific Palisades.
