2024 was undoubtedly a rocky year for Jennifer Lopez. While she had countless projects in the works, like her new album, her new movie and her marriage to Ben Affleck, things didn’t exactly turn out like she had planned. In fact, after an underwhelming album release, Lopez ended up canceling her album tour to take the summer off. And, by August 20, she had filed for divorce from Affleck after two years together.
But, as we all collectively put 2024 behind us and embrace the new energy of 2025, Lopez seems to be doing the exact same. In a new interview with Variety, for example, she seems eager to continue working and release everything she’s got planned.

When asked about being honored with the Legend & Groundbreaker Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival, Lopez said she’s got a lot more to give.
“I’m humbled; I’m blown away,” Lopez told the outlet. “But I still have so much more to do. I’m at the halfway mark. I feel like my best work is in front of me. My biggest projects are in front of me, and my biggest successes. Everything is in the future.”
Speaking of big projects, Lopez will be starring in her first movie musical this year, titled Kiss of the Spider Woman. In the movie, Lopez will be playing Aurora, an actress who’s the object of an Argentinian prisoner’s desires.
“It’s probably my favorite movie experience,” Lopez said of the movie, which is set to film in April. “It’s a film about how love transcends everything — the hardest circumstances, gender, social prejudices. Everything.”
Prior to Kiss of the Spider Woman, Lopez starred in Unstoppable, where she played a resilient mom who took care and supported her son as he became a college wrestling champ.
“Women are strong,” Lopez said when reflecting on her two characters. “We have to be. From the minute women are born, we’re always having to prove ourselves, to show we’re good enough. That creates a type of strength. And then a lot of us give birth — and there’s nothing that makes you stronger than doing that.”
With so much drive and resilience, Lopez is showing all of us just how strong she really is.
