Jennifer Lopez's father speaks for the first time about his daughter's failed marriage to Ben Affleck: 'No idea'

Jennifer Lopez's father dodged commenting on her divorce from Ben Affleck as the 82-year-old David Lopez made a funny joke about marriage whilst walking through Los Angeles in a rare appearance.

Lopez was heading to a sports rehab center close to his property in San Fernando Valley in his first sighting since before his daughter decided to end her marriage to the famous actor in August 2024.

And he aimed to keep it casual and inconspicuous by wearing a black hoodie, track pants, and sneakers with a cap and dark sunglasses too, and didn't seem to appreciate questions about his daughter by muttering under his breath when media asked him what he thought of the split.

The senior citizen, who previously served in the army, did later joke about being clueless about marriage. "No idea," was Lopez's reply when media asked him how to keep a happy holy matrimony, between two people.

Jennifer appreciates her dad

David Lopez was married to Guadalupe, Jennifer's mother, from the 1960s to the 1990s before they eventually divorced and interestingly he was spotted with a wedding ring on his finger, although there's no indication he has tied the knot again since.

Jennifer, meanwhile, is into her fourth failed marriage after breaking up with Ojani Noa in 1997, Cris Judd in 2003, Marc Anthony in 2014 and now Affleck in 2024, the latter after four years together.

She also had a failed romance with Alex Rodriguez, the New York Yankees' legend, and previously tried dating Affleck from 2000-2004 before they eventually broke up with each other for the first time. Fortunately, the one man she can always depend on is her father.

"He really thinks about what I go through," Lopez said of David to Hoda Kotb in 2016. "He said to me one time, he goes, 'I just want you to know of all the people in the world, there's one person who just loves you and doesn't want anything from you. You have that in your life.'"
