Jennifer Lopez’s New Era Is in Full Effect After Attending Event With Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner

Is there anything more awkward than running into your ex-husband and his ex-wife at a school event? Well, that’s exactly what Jennifer Lopez faced on Friday, Oct. 18 when she had to cross paths with Ben Affleck, who was in attendance with Jennifer Garner. The 55-year-old superstar looked completely unbothered as she walked with purpose and confidence into the building. 

She wore a chic gray jumpsuit with sky-high heels and a determined smile as the photographers snapped her photo. (You can see the images here.) Her hair was styled with soft waves that framed her face and that J.Lo glow was in full effect. She didn’t go alone though, her 16-year-old child Emme was with her along with two friends. Affleck and Garner kept their look more casual with both of them sporting jeans and heavy coats to combat the chilly LA air. They attended the event with their 15-year-old child, Fin. 

Emme and Fin reportedly share a close bond and attend the same high school, so it’s been important to Lopez for the two teens to maintain their friendship. “A divorce is never easy, but Jennifer doesn’t want to be selfish about it. The kids always got along and have fun together,” a source told People. “It makes her happy seeing the kids happy together. Happy kids are her priority.” 

The “I’m Real” singer recently opened up to Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine on how she’s turning a page from her Affleck marriage — it’s time to put herself first. “My whole life has been proving my enoughness,” she revealed. “Dealing with feeling like you’re enough, from when you’re very young, is something that you don’t figure out for a long time because you’re not looking at yourself like that. Something is driving you and your decisions, and you don’t know why. You start going, “Wait a minute, what the f**k is going on here?”

For Lopez, that means breaking some relationship patterns that have haunted her over the years. “You have to be complete if you want something that’s more complete. You have to be good on your own,” she added. “I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, “I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.” 

It looks like Lopez took that first step on Friday night. She looked cool and confident and probably asked herself, “Ben Affleck, who?”
