Jeremy Allen White Achieves Rare Feat of Third Consecutive Golden Globe TV Comedy Actor Win

Jeremy Allen White achieved a rare feat at the 2025 Golden Globes after winning the award for best performance by an actor in a television series — musical or comedy.

White was nominated alongside Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Ted Danson (A Man on the Inside), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Jason Segel (Shrinking) and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building).

The Globe marked White’s third win in a row after previously being nominated and winning in the same category for the last two Globes. With the win, White joins Michael J. Fox and Alan Alda in achieving the rare feat of winning in the best actor in a television series – comedy in three consecutive years, following his wins in 2023 and 2024. Alda achieved this for four years in a row, winning for M*A*S*H between 1980-1983.

White is next set to star as Bruce Springsteen in the biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, which follows Springsteen while making his hit 1982 album Nebraska. Springsteen has praised the actor for his portrayal, saying he sings “very well” and offers an “interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize.” White has also joined The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars feature since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Jennifer Coolidge was on hand to present the category. Prior to naming White the winner, the White Lotus star jokingly said she was happy to honor “the men who have the daunting task of carrying the weight of an entire series on their shoulders. And believe me it’s not easy.”

“I do know how hard it is for you guys to have to pretend to be nice to everybody but then again you guys do get very special treatment on the set,” she said.

She then comically reflected on working with Billy Bob Thornton and the “special treatment” he received on set.

“I don’t want to seem petty or anything but I remember being on this other job and it was with Billy Bob Thornton and he was allowed to bring his pet coyote, and I wasn’t even allowed to bring my overweight triplets. I just want to say thank god they let me bring them tonight,” she said before giving a shoutout to “Sheila, Sheila and Sheila.”

Going into the ceremony, The Bear led the TV nominees with five total mentions, followed by Only Murders in the Building and Shogun with four each.

Meanwhile, Emilia Pérez lead the film nominations with 10 nods, more than any other title in film or on TV. The film’s 10 nominations breaks the record previously held by a comedy or musical motion picture, surpassing Barbie, which scored a total of nine noms last year. On the film side, The Brutalist received seven noms, Conclave got six, and Anora and The Substance got five each.

Viola Davis will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award, which recognizes TV excellence.

The Golden Globes aired live Sunday from the Beverly Hilton on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Nikki Glaser hosted.
