Jim Jones is taking his and Cam’ron’s latest issues to the booth, teasing a new and presumably imminent track on social media early Tuesday.
In a clip shared to Instagram, Jones, who on Monday was the subject of an extensive opening salvo from Cam on It Is What It Is (itself a response to remarks from Jones), is heard urging those who may find themselves in a position of doubt to “remind ‘em who you are” and “remind ‘em you a star.” He repeats this sentiment as the song fully kicks in, rapping, “When n***as play with your name, remind ‘em who you are.”
Not much deeper into the clip, seen below, Jones asserts that he’s “just trying to tell my truth but n***as is lying.” He also boasts about having “put so much work in” in his life that he “coulda died on the job.” Elsewhere, he says it’s been “seven years” since he’s seen Mel, who was among those cited by Cam earlier this week. Toward the end of the clip, Jones made it clear what spurred his decision to preview the as-yet-unreleased track by referencing another of Cam’s widely headlined It Is What It Is comments.
“So what more you wanna ask him? You n***as taught me how to rap and now I’m platinum,” he raps.
As previously reported, Cam took issue with previous statements from Jones about Diplomats history. He also mentioned 50 Cent, who himself has been in and out of the larger Jones conversation in recent weeks.
“We taught you how to rap, n***a,” Cam said on Monday’s show. “How you run the whole organization? How you made Diplomats? You ain’t made none of this. You was a fan. I put you down because you had a free crib and you were a nice guy. That’s how you got down originally. Period.”
According to Jones, he has a new album on the way, as well as an accompanying film.
“I said what I said,” he told fans.
Monday’s It Is What It Is, notably, saw co-host Mase indulging in some popcorn during Cam’s lengthy Jones missive. Fif, expectedly, was among those who zeroed in on the background bucket action, like so:
