Jimmy Kimmel on Monday noted that poor weather forced a change of venue for President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
“It was below freezing in Washington today,” Kimmel pointed out. “It’s the only reason that Bible he swore on didn’t burst into flames.”
Instead of being held outside the U.S. Capitol, the event was moved inside to the Rotunda ― which Kimmel said held one key advantage for the incoming president.
“Harder for Melania to escape,” he cracked, referring to the first lady.
Kimmel said Melania Trump’s look for the ceremony was “goth Al Capone,” as she wore a black and white outfit that included a hat with a wide flat brim.
The late night host also spotted an awkward moment for the first couple.
“Donald and Melania are very very much in love,” he said. “You can see here they had a very sweet moment, they shared a almost a kiss.”
The president and first lady tried to kiss, but the hat’s brim prevented it. Kimmel joked there may have been another reason they didn’t quite kiss.
“I guess she didn’t want to mess up his makeup,” he said.
