2025 marks the start of a major new chapter for WWE, with the long-anticipated partnership between WWE and Netflix kicking off.
The first-ever RAW episode on Netflix is set to premiere on January 6 from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, with WWE confirming several key details, including the appearance of John Cena.
This marks the beginning of Cena's retirement tour, which is said to involve 35-40 appearances and has major events already on the schedule, including the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41.
Cena's retirement announcement came back in July, during Money in the Bank, when he shared that 2025 would be his final year as an in-ring performer.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating his farewell tour, with speculation building about the possibility of him facing Logan Paul at WrestleMania 41. However, reports suggest that WWE higher-ups are opposed to this match, fueling more questions about Cena's final year.
Amid this speculation, Cena recently posted something intriguing, prompting fans to wonder if a significant shift is on the horizon for his career—perhaps even a long-awaited heel turn. This would be a dramatic move for the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, a turn he hasn't made since the early years of his career.

Specifically, as seen above, Cena (or at least, his official Instagram account) posted an image from the 2000 film "American Psycho," an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' controversial novel directed by Mary Harron.
In the scene depicted, Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is removing a mask-like exfoliating skin treatment while musing on both his extensive moisturizing routine and his lack of connection to humanity. Needless to say, it is a chilling scene.
The bio of Cena's Instagram account explicitly says "These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy" and WWE fans are certainly going with that.
Bateman is considered one of the more memorable movie characters of the early 2000s, particularly in his flip back and forth between a seemingly rational NYC yuppie and an unhinged slasher. Could this be Cena's new persona for his upcoming tour? Only time will tell.
