Josh Brolin Yuks It Up Over Using LSD At Age 13: 'Greatest Thing I Ever Did'

Actor Josh Brolin opened up about repeatedly using LSD at age 13, while also joking about it, on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday. (Watch the video below.)

The “Avengers” star told host Kimmel he began his early experimentation with some buddies in Santa Barbara.

“Your brain is still developing,” he allowed. “It’s probably not the best time to start that drug, but I really had an amazing time.”

Brolin, the son of actor James Brolin and the late Jane Cameron Agee, spoke glowingly of his first trip: “I saw a fireplace talking to me who said some nice things. I liked what he said. ... It was, like, caressing. It was, you know, wisdom.”

The second time on the mind-altering substance, “not so good.”

Kimmel asked Brolin, who devotes a portion of his new memoir, “From Under the Truck,” to his drug use, if he would dissuade his 13-year-old self from experimenting with LSD if he could go back in time.

Perhaps Brolin thought Kimmel was angling for some kind of disclaimer or warning for young teens, who the actor joked are Kimmel’s biggest demographic.

Pointing at the camera, Brolin facetiously declared, “Do not do LSD, children.” Then he added to Kimmel, “It was the greatest thing I ever did!”

Earlier, when Kimmel introduced the topic of Brolin’s young dabbling in psychedelics, the actor led the audience in a round of applause. Kimmel asked him how that behavior could happen.

“I don’t know how it happens, man,” Brolin replied. “Where are the parents? Did they give it to me? Did they misplace a sugar cube?”

He appeared to be joking. We think.

Fast-forward to 2:40 for Brolin’s trip down memory lane:
