Joss Stone recently delighted fans when she revealed she adopted a baby boy named Bear.

In a post shared on Instagram at the beginning of the month, the singer wrote: "Happy mummy Mondays . This is what happened to us last Monday. We can not quite believe it. We are in love big time with this little guy. The reason why Cody even exists is because his bio mum loved him enough to make an adoption plan for him and the same goes for Bear.

"Honestly bio mothers do not get the gratitude they deserve. It is a more selfless love than I knew existed. Truly . We are just so happy to be part of this beautiful cycle. Please share your story’s of adoption in the comments if you have any. And please welcome our gorgeous baby boy to this wonderful world."

In the video, the singer - who is friends with Prince Harry and Prince William - was seen on the phone to the adoption agency being told she could collect the new addition to her family. Joss joyfully breaks the news to her kids, three-year-old Violet and two-year-old Shackleton, before going to the hospital with husband, Cody DaLuz, to pick up their bundle of joy.

Her dream life in America now is worlds away from what it was like when she was living in Devon. Back in June 2011, she was the victim of a kidnap plot, where two men - Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw - were convicted of planning to murder her at her east Devon home.

They drove from their bed-sit in Manchester towards her home, with their car loaded with weapons including a samurai sword, hammers, a metal spike, knives, balaclavas, a hosepipe and plastic bags. They also had notes outlining their plan to steal £1million for her and dump her body in a river.

In April 2013, the two were found guilty of planning to rob and murder Joss at Exeter Crown Court. Police even found notes referring to decapitating Joss and questioned her links to the royals. Bradshaw was sentenced to 18 years and Liverpool was sentenced to life in prison. However, Bradshaw's sentence was cut to 10 years and Liverpool's minimum sentence reduced to 6.5 years.

She didn't let the terrifying ordeal stop her from living her life. However, as the years went by, her single status made her decide to move to America more permanently in 2016. "When I was growing up, I wanted loads of kids but I couldn’t find the right man so I got to 30, living in Devon, and said to Mum: 'I’m moving to America and I’m not coming back until I have a husband and a child.' I had to change something, so I did," she said to Great British Life.

In 2020, she met her husband-to-be Cody DaLuz, a former US marine, who didn't get deterred after she revealed she wanted 'seven kids'. She tried her conversation starters with him while on dates, telling him 'Nice to meet you' before saying 'I want seven kids'. He simply replied he wanted an adoptive Beagle and an adoptive baby.

Although she's living her dream life in Nashville, Tennessee, the 2011 kidnap plot changed her outlook on life. "What happened to me in 2011 has made me lock my doors and have an alarm system, whereas I didn’t before," she previously said. "Cody’s so mellow — he says, 'Oh, we don’t need to worry about that,' and I’m, like, 'Well, you know, people do sometimes try to kill you'."
