Kat Dennings Lived By Whoopi Goldberg's Brutally Honest Dating Rule — Until She Met Her Husband

Kat Dennings has revealed that she took some sage advice from Whoopi Goldberg to heart.

While appearing Tuesday on “The View,” Dennings was asked if she’d been a “big dater” before tying the knot in 2023.

“I was in a few long relationships, and I tried to date a little. It was just a nightmare,” the actor said.

That’s when a quote from Whoopi Goldberg resonated deeply with her, she said, before then marrying singer Andrew W.K.

In a 2016 interview with The New York Times, Goldberg unleashed her take on relationships: “I’m much happier on my own. I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I’m not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don’t want somebody in my house.”

On Tuesday, Dennings confessed that she held these words near and dear.

“I actually lived by a quote from you, Whoopi,” The “Thor” actor said. “Correct me if this is the wrong quote, but I did look it up to make sure: ‘I don’t want somebody in my house.’”

Co-host Sara Haines chimed in, saying she “definitely nailed” the quote from Goldberg, while another co-host added, “That’s Whoopi.”

Dennings admitted that those “were her feelings towards marriage in general” but said her perspective changed after she met her husband — who, it turns out, is welcome in her house.

Goldberg, a comedian, actor, author, EGOT winner and a woman known for speaking her mind, had also made waves in December with another candid admission.

“For me, I like a hit-and-run,” Goldberg said. “I like a hit-and-run, because I am not interested in a committed relationship.”
