The Wuthering Heights icon has been opening up in a rare interview about an exciting new project and her desire to put a new record.
fans have some good news today as the iconic star has announced she’s ready to start working on new music.
The musician has been absent from the public spotlight for a number of years and last released an album in 2001.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Bush said: “I'm really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it's been a long time."
In the rare chat with the BBC’s Emma Barnett, the Wuthering Heights legend, 66, also announced a new short film which she wrote and directed and which was inspired by Russia’s war on Ukraine.
The black-and-white, four-minute animated film is called Little Shrew and is set to her 2011 track Snowflake.
The project aims to raise money and awareness for the charity War Child.
Bush, 66, shot to fame with her debut release Withering Heights in 1978 when she was aged just 19. She'd gone on to put out a raft of smash hits that would some become classics, including Hounds of Love, Babooshka and King of the Mountain.
The reclusive star rose back to prominence for a new generation when her song Running Up That Hill was used in hit Netflix show Stranger Things in 2022.
With the song going viral across TikTok, it re-entered the charts and eventually topped a billion streams on Spotify.
Asked whether she was currently working on new material, Bush said: "Not at the moment, but I've been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together.
"And I'm very keen to start working on a new album when I've got this finished. I've got lots of ideas and I'm really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it's been a long time."
And when asked if this is something she’s been planning for a while, she went on: "Yes it is, really. Particularly [in] the last year, I've felt really ready to start doing something new."
Bush hasn’t performed live since 2014, when she laid on her first gig in 35 years but she told Barnett that she’s got no plans for any live dates as of yet.
