Kate Ferdinand set for awkward Dancing On Ice reunion with 'cheating' ex

Kate and Rio Ferdinand will be on hand to support the former footballer's brother Anton in the Dancing On Ice studio, but may be faced with an awkward situation as Kate's ex is also involved

Kate Ferdinand is set to have an awkward reunion with ex partner Dan Edgar as the new series of Dancing On Ice gets underway.

The reality TV star will be in the crowd to support her brother-in-law Anton Ferdinand as he takes to the rink to show off his new talents. However, Kate may well come face to face with TOWIE star Dan, who is also involved in the ITV reality series.

The potential meeting comes after Kate and Dan's on-off relationship panned out in front of the TV cameras on The Only Way Is Essex before they finally went their separate ways. At the time, Dan was hit with cheating allegations.

Now, it's said that while Rio and Kate put on a united front for former footballer Anton in his performances, there could be an awkward reuniting between Kate and her ex. However, she's said to be glad to have Rio by her side in case of any coming together.

A source told The Sun: "Fortunately, Dan won’t be skating his first routine until next week so it means Kate won’t have to endure an entire performance. Things were on and off between Kate and Dan for years and there was clearly a lot of love between them.

“Kate is obviously now very happily married to Rio and it shows the strength of their ­relationship that she is not fazed by being around Dan."

Anton also told the publication Dan's name had not come up in any family discussion about the show. The former QPR defender said: "No, none of that. Kate and Rio are just focused on what I am doing and nothing else. They are proud of me and that is all that matters."

They initially met through mutual friends while holidaying in Dubai back in 2016. At the time of their meeting, Kate was getting over her relationship to her former The Only Way Is Essex co-star. On New Year's Eve in 2016 Rio took to Instagram to share a snap alongside Lee Westwood and Anthony Joshua while in Dubai.

Just days later, Kate also shared an image of herself in Dubai and teased about booking another trip to the United Arab Emirates. A number of months later, both Kate and Rio returned to the desert for a romantic couples holiday. However, they kept their relationship under wraps until April 2017. Then, she went public with their relationship status and confirmed she was quitting TOWIE as her "priority right now is Rio and the family."

Rio and Kate share two kids together, Cree, four, and Shae, one. Rio also has Lorenz, 18, Tate, 15, and Tia, 13, from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who died in 2015.
