Kate Winslet broke down as she spoke about the vile body-shaming she received after filming Titanic. Kate, now 49, was selected to star in the immensely popular film when she was just 20-years-old.
In Titanic, Kate played Rose DeWitt Bukater, a young woman from an aristocratic family who falls in love with a poor artist named Jack Dawson, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. Their romance unfolds aboard the ill-fated Titanic, as the ship tragically sinks.
Kate was reduced to tears after recounting the criticism she had received about her weight when the movie was in it's heyday.
On The 60 Minutes Interview, Kate said: "It was absolutely appalling. What kind of a person must they be to do something like that to a young actress who’s just trying to figure it out?
With teary eyes, she added: "I did get face-to-face. I let them have it. I said, 'I hope this haunts you'.

The YouTube video then showed an old clip of Kate on the Red Carpet where she was met with a host that told her she needed to go up a few sizes on her dress and that she looked a 'a little melted' in her garment.
Kate previously addressed body shaming in an interview with Harper's Bazaar. Reflecting on an incident from the set of Titanic, Kate recalled: "There’s a bit where Lee is sitting on a bench in a bikini. And one of the crew came up between takes and said, ‘you might want to sit up straighter’. So you can’t see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?”
Kate went on to explain that she refuses to be ashamed of aging over the years and wouldn’t want to hide it. When asked if she minded looking her age on screen, she said: “The opposite. I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn’t occur to me to cover that up.”

The star will turn 50 next October and has a bucket list of 50 things she wants to do to celebrate. She shared: “I want to spend the year doing 50 remarkable things, whether that’s a particular hike I’ve never done, or acts of kindness. I’m gathering a little list.”
Kate’s new film, Lee, about the fashion model who became a Second World War photographer for Vogue, was released in September.
