Katy Perry has shared the Christmas tradition that she celebrates - to the amusement of her neighbours including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The 40-year-old chart-topping star delighted fans this week with a festive performance from London where she belted out hits as part of ITV's Night of a Lifetime concert special. The one-off event was held at Westminster Central Hall in London on Wednesday 11 December and broadcast via ITV on Saturday 21 December.

During her performance - where Katy sang tunes including smash hits including Firework, I Kissed A Girl, and Teenage Dream - the star opened up about her festive traditions. She explained that she loves nothing more on Christmas Eve than to dress up as The Grinch and sing for her neighbours - including British royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who live in the same area, in Montecito, California.

She told the audience: "We are going to be at home and do something we do every year which is we rent a trolley and we dress up to go to all the neighbours houses in my hometown. I dress up as the Grinch, which I got us from Amazon, and we go carolling, I don't know if anyone will know its be but yeah we go round peoples houses carolling.

"Sometimes there is hot cocoa and I'm dressed like The Grinch and it's going to be super fun." And before she took to the stage, Katy shared her excitement about performing in the UK capital.

She said: "I am SO chuffed to transform Central Hall Westminster for this very cool and cozy evening for my UK fans. I can’t wait to be back in London, one of my favourite places in the world, for this up close and personal dance party of a LIFETIME."

This year, Katy released her seventh studio album, titled 143. However, the record was a commercial and critical disaster - failing to top the charts anywhere in the world, and being savaged by music experts. The singer was also widely slammed for working with controversial producer Dr Luke on the record - who was famously accused of sexual abuse by pop singer Kesha. A settlement was reached between the stars in 2023.

Following the flop release of the record, however, a source told the Daily Mail: "Katy is no longer the teenage dream anymore and she needs to accept this. She announced that she is bringing her 2025 tour to the US after being advised to not do the tour at all." They added: "Her album absolutely tanked, and an artist should not do a tour from a failed album that bombed."

Perry herself defended her decision to work with Dr Luke, telling the Call Her Daddy podcast: "Look, I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with, but the reality is it comes from me. The truth is I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis. And he was one of the people to help facilitate all that.”
