Keith Urban, the iconic country music singer, recently shared a glimpse into Taylor Swift's early days when she opened for him during his 2009 Escape Together World Tour.

Urban, who has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, said he always knew Swift was destined for something extraordinary.

During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Urban spoke highly of Swift's performances during their time on tour.

Reflecting on the then-19-year-old singer's talent, he said, "It was a long time ago obviously... yeah, it was great. She was amazing even back then."

Urban admitted to being captivated by her ability to engage audiences and her vision that extended far beyond her years.

"I would sit up front and watch her sing, and I'm like, 'Oh, she was singing way off into this other thing.' You could see it. She was playing way past where she was already. It's amazing."

Urban also fondly remembered Swift's playful side, recalling a humorous prank she pulled on the tour's final night.

Dressed as KISS rocker Ace Frehley, Swift surprised Urban during his performance of Kiss a Girl. Urban confessed, "I thought it was KISS for a minute. It was so good."

Collaboration on Fearless (Taylor's Version)

More than a decade later, Swift invited Urban to collaborate on her re-recorded album Fearless (Taylor's Version).

Urban contributed vocals to the tracks That's When and We Were Happy. He was thrilled to participate, sharing how Swift personally reached out to him.

"She had a song she wanted me to do, and she just texted me and said, 'I have a song that I want you to sing on,'" Urban recalled.

"I was in a food court at a shopping mall at the time, sitting there with my AirPods in, listening to this unreleased Taylor song. It was crazy."

Swift's Evolution to a Global Icon

Since her days as Urban's opening act, Swift has transformed into a cultural phenomenon. Her recently concluded Eras Tour spanned 21 months, five continents, and 149 shows, grossing $2.2 billion in ticket sales.

Swift's unparalleled ability to connect with audiences has only grown stronger, and her journey remains a testament to her talent, hard work, and creative vision.

Urban's memories highlight the defining moments of Swift's early career and the unshakable foundation of her artistry.

From pranks on tour to monumental collaborations, their story reflects the enduring impact of recognizing and nurturing raw talent.
