Keke Palmer and SZA are desperate for money to avoid eviction, and are determined to do anything to get their cash in new comedy One Of Them Days. And by anything, we mean anything.
In the exclusive clip above, the two, down-on-their-luck ladies try to “focus on the money” and hit the blood bank to earn some quick cash to remain off the streets.
Their adventure, however, takes them to a first-day phlebotomist Rose, played by Janelle James, who takes the situation from bad to worse.
“Take it easy on me,” please Palmer’s headstrong character Dreaux. “Needles make me a little squeamish.”
“Me too,” added Rose, amplifying the anxiety of the duo.
One Of Them Days, due in theaters on Friday (Jan . 17), also features Lil Rel Howery, Patrick Cage, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Katt Williams. The film is directed by Lawrence Lamont, written by Syretta Singleton, and produced by Issa Rae.
“The world is about to be just gagged,” shared Palmer of her R&B singer co-star’s feature film debut in an interview with PEOPLE Magazine. “Honestly, it’s so, so good. I really am just so proud of you and the movie. It’s all, to me, a match made in heaven.”
“I’m trying something brand new. All I can do is try my best, you know, and thank God for the opportunity and just kinda lean into and accept it as a growing experience,” added SZA. “I have tons of fears of being perceived on camera, talking, my voice [and] being next to Keke, who’s a superstar of so many multitudes.”
