Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly faced an ordeal when their twin daughters, Sawyer and Chandler, 7, had to go to the hospital for unknown reasons on Saturday, January 11. However, they had a much more cheerful update on Sunday, January 12.
The family shared a big breakfast feast at a Waffle House, which Kelly documented on her Instagram story. "Found our happy place in AZ," wrote the 46-year-old in the caption, continuing that her "southern heart" was "so happy" to be enjoying their Waffle House treats. (Kelly and Matthew met while attending the University of Georgia together, where he played football and she was a cheerleader.)
The Rams traveled to Arizona for the NFL's Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings, which had to be relocated due to the wildfires in California. While the Staffords have not shared exactly what sent the twins to the hospital, E! News reported that Kelly had mentioned that she and the twins had the flu on her podcast the previous week. (Kelly co-hosts The Morning After with her "bestie," Hank Winchester.)
In an Instagram story from January 11 that showed the twins lying in a hospital cot together and apparently connected to IV drips, Kelly wrote, "Last night was long. Back in beds and sleeping, everyone except Hunter. Feels like she drank a Celsius [energy drink]." Hunter, 6, is the middle Stafford daughter, followed by 4-year-old Tyler, the youngest.
The family is going through a challenging time, having also had to evacuate from their home due to the California wildfires, but Matthew expressed his determination to get a win for his home city during a press conference on Thursday, January 9. "We play for the people in this community, the people that support us," he explained to his fans. "And this week will be another example of that."
Kelly has also struggled with her own health challenges, including a brain tumor that she had removed in 2019 and post-partum depression in 2017.
