Kendrick Lamar left his smash hit "Not Like Us" off of GNX as a sign of integrity, according to Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence "Punch" Henderson.
On Monday, Punch responded to a fan who asked why Kendrick didn't include the scathing Drake diss record on his latest album, which dropped last November. According to the TDE president, Kendrick wanted to stay true to his moral principles and keep his latest release separate from what transpired several months ago.
"Integrity," said Punch. "That record was for the battle. The album was a separate thing. Could have put it on there to boost overall sales but chose to leave it for what it was. Integrity."
Someone else asked if K Dot had been working on the album prior to the rap battle with Drake and Punch deflected the answer and told the fan, "lol. That's all I got champ. He can speak on that if he ever choose too."
"Not Like Us" was the shot heard worldwide in the vicious rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. It was released last May and was the song that effectively gave Kendrick the win in the battle, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and breaking numerous streaming records.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Kendrick cleaned house with the song, grabbing five wins, including Best Rap Song, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
