This just makes us sick to our stomach…

A Kentucky dad has been sentenced after he fatally punched his 1-month-old son because he was angry over a video game.

Back in May 2019, the Louisville Metro Police Department reported Anthony Trice was home alone with his 1-month-old son one night playing video games. While he was looking after little De’Anthony Trice, he raged at whatever video game he was playing and chucked the controller. Then, per multiple outlets at the time, he punched the baby in the head. Sickening.

After this, he picked up the baby in attempt to quiet him from his screaming, and took him to the kitchen to make a bottle. Infuriatingly, the man DROPPED HIM on the way to the kitchen! Following the drop, Trice propped the baby up in a seated position in a bedroom and gave him a blanket before walking away to use the bathroom. When he came back, he found the child “in distress”. Only then did he decide to call 911.

Disgustingly, Trice decided to call the baby’s mother and told her the baby was “throwing up milk” so he’d take him to the hospital. The baby’s grandmother, Tanjia Howlett, told local outlet WKLY at the time:

“He was like, ‘Get to the hospital. The baby was throwing up milk. So, I told my daughter, ‘Why would he take the baby to the hospital for choking on baby milk?'”

Sadly, after being taken to the hospital in critical condition, De’Anthony didn’t pull through. He died on May 5, 2019. Absolutely senseless. Rest in peace, little one…

The infant’s aunt, Ronika Tunstill, told the outlet following his death that she didn’t see this coming:

“We were talking about the [baby] clothes that he got and what he was about to get him and stuff. Everything was fine.”

So heartbreaking.

Trice was arrested the day after the incident on charges of first-degree criminal abuse of a child, but after the baby died his charges were upped to murder. He originally pleaded not guilty, but according to WDRB he later pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge. The plea deal he entered was an Alford plea — which, in case you aren’t familiar, means he doesn’t admit guilt but he acknowledges there’s enough evidence to convict him.

On Thursday, in Jefferson Circuit Court, Trice was officially sentenced to only 20 years in prison. Wow… Our heart goes out to De’Anthony’s family and loved ones. We’re sending them love and light. Thoughts, Perezcious readers?
