Kim Kardashian has pianist wake kids up every day over Christmas - and pays him over six figures

Kanye West introduced the tradition of getting pianist Philip Cornish to wake the Kardashian-West children up 'peacefully' every December morning - and his ex-wife Kim has carried on the tradition

Kim Kardashian, 44, reportedly pays several times the amount of many people’s annual salaries just for her private pianist over Christmas.

The reality TV star shares four children - North, 11, Saint, eight, Chicago, six, and Psalm, five - with her ex-husband Kanye West, 47. Instead of waking the kids up with alarm clocks, Kim has been hiring a private pianist to wake them up in December for years. The Skims founder invites Philip Cornish over to the mansion, with the pianist having worked for Kanye since 2019.

Kim previously revealed that Philip shows up at her mansion every December morning, and wakes the four kids up “peacefully” with songs on the keys. The idea seemed to stem from Ye, and while Kim wasn’t originally on board she’s now continued hiring Philip despite their divorce.

According to an insider, Kanye decided to introduce the Philip wakeup calls to “add some magic” to their kids’ lives. They told The Sun that “the kids love it so much and Kim has grown to love it too. For Philip himself, it’s reportedly just as enjoyable as it is for his employers.

“Philip would do it for free and even tells Kim that but he does get paid. Rather than per day, it’s a lump sum - which at this point is now well into the six figures,” the source revealed. Alongside the six-figure salary for just a month’s work, the musician gets plenty of other perks including food from Kim’s chef and Christmas gifts from the wealthy family.

The insider also claimed that Philip seemed “really satisfied with the dynamic and how he is treated” over at Kim’s multi-million mega mansion. They divulged that the pianist lives pretty close which makes the early morning commute easier, and that Kim is a kind employer. They added: “...He has even grown closer to the kids and teaches North some piano keys. He’s become part of the family.”

Kim doesn’t hold back from showing her luxurious lifestyle, and previously shared a clip of Philip on Instagram. She wrote: “It’s that time of year!!! @Philthekeys comes over every morning to wake my kids up by playing the piano while the mad morning rush is happening to calm their little souls and fill it with beautiful Christmas songs.”

While Kim has continued Kanye’s music tradition in her house, they reportedly don’t see eye to eye on everything when it comes to parenting their children. Kanye is now married to his second wife Bianca Censori, 29. The duo secretly got married in January 2023, with Bianca previously working for his company, Yeezy. The couple has become known for their wild and often NSFW public appearances, and Kim reportedly sends trusted nannies to monitor the children's time with Kanye, who some fans think may have changed for the worse due to his new relationship.
