Despite all of her help, Kim Kardashian admitted that she struggles with feeling “alone” while raising her four children, who she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.
Kim, 44, said that she recognizes that she has “great support systems” and “people around [her],” but her mom duties sometimes take a toll.
“Sometimes in the middle of the night, when they’re all sleeping in your bed kicking you and crying and waking up — it’s not something that I talk about a lot because I feel like there is always a lot of judgment or people always will jump to the, ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help.’ And I just think that no matter what kind of help I have, I’m basically raising four kids by myself,” the reality star told host Zoe Winkler during her Tuesday, November 12, appearance on “What the Winkler?” podcast.
Kim continued, “I mean even carpool this morning, I had five kids that I had to take, and everyone wants to leave at, like, different times or wants different stuff. And I feel like I’m at, like, a pit stop of a race car driver.”
Social media users were quick to call the SKKN founder out for her comments.
“Kim K talking bout being a ‘single’ mom is so funny to me like welcome to the everyday struggle of working women that’s not billionaires with no babysitters and have to do this everyday!!!” wrote one X user.
Another added, “I don’t usually ever diminish any mom’s feelings concerning motherhood, because I understand how hard it can be. Kim Kardashian saying she’s raising her children ‘by herself’ is laughable. Ma’am, go sit down.”
This wasn’t the first time the Skims founder has opened up about her struggles with being a single parent. Kim spoke to Jay Shetty in a May 2023 episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast.
“It’s a really hard task when you have four kids and they all want to be put to bed at the same time. I think it’s just those nights when you can’t divide yourself and you have to just work with what we have,” Kim explained.
However, she received quite a bit of backlash from the public for her statements as many pointed out how much help she had with employees like nannies, chefs and more. Kim discussed the backlash during an episode of The Kardashians.
“I think I’m still learning how to be a single parent. And I just did the Jay Shetty podcast where I spoke about parenting and — I mean, I should be used to it now, but everyone had a lot to say. The struggles my kids go through have nothing to do with the help that I have,” Kim pointed out during a confessional in the October 26, 2023, episode.
She continued, “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful. It’s all about family and enjoying these moments. It takes a village to raise kids, but at the end of the day, these kids only want you.”
