Kym Marsh ‘has point to prove’ after shock split from toyboy partner – six months after declaring he was her ‘soulmate’

KYM Marsh is reportedly looking towards the future after her sudden split from “soulmate” boyfriend, Samuel Thomas. 

The 48-year-old Coronation Street star sparked a whirlwind romance with 29-year-old actor Sam last year after starring in 101 Dalmations: The Musical together. 

However, last week it was revealed the pair had split after just six months together, breaking up just before Christmas as obligations kept them apart. 

But according to OK!, Kym is looking onwards and upwards, with a source telling them: “It's been hard for Kym, but she's feeling like she's got herself back and is really throwing herself into work."

A source added to The Mirror: “Kym is 50 next year and is feeling confident about it, she isn’t nervous and feels like this could really be her time to shine.

"Kym hasn’t been the luckiest in love and she knows that, but now it’s time to be focusing on her family and spending time with her grandkids, which she loves.

“She’s determined to make it a good year – Kym is back and she’s got a point to prove.”

Kym has had a series of ups and downs in her romantic life, including high profile marriages with fellow soap stars Jack Ryder from 2002 to 2009, and Jamie Lomas from 2012 to 2014.

She then married third husband, Army major Scott Ratcliff, in 2021 after a four-year relationship, only to split 19 months later as their work once again kept them apart. 

Announcing her relationship with Sam in August last year, excited Kim called him her “soulmate” in a gushing post showing them looking loved up. 

“Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. @samuelthomasuk I love you #beautiful #soulmate," she wrote at the time. 

She was later forced to defend their romance after being targeted by cruel trolls, telling them to “do one” and “grow up and get on with [their] own life”. 

But fast forward to Christmas and the pair had gone their separate ways, with a source telling The Sun the split was “cordial”. 

An insider said: “Kym and Sam fell head over heels when they first met and couldn’t wait to tell the world.

“But once Kym’s role in 101 Dalmatians ended it became harder to spend time together and some of the magic they had at the beginning just disappeared.

“It’s such a shame, especially before Christmas but Kym surrounded herself with family."

Among her family are children David, Emily and Polly, as well as her grandchildren Teddy, Polly and Clay.
